In September 1948, Mainland hosted New Smyrna Beach in the first game at Memorial, with an attendance of 4,200 to view the Volusia County foes.
The City of Daytona Beach sold the land to neighboring Daytona Beach Community College, (now Daytona State College) in 1986, with intent on building now Municipal Stadium. Municipal Stadium became the new home for Daytona Beach Area high schools.
DBCC built a parking lot to fit their expanding collegiate needs.
