Mandarin Uses Stifling Defense To Throttle Wekiva 19-7 IN 8A-1 REGIONAL FINAL

Jacksonville Mandarin's defense caused four turnovers including a 55 yard interception return for a touchdown by Demario Douglas with 33 seconds left in the fourth quarter to seal a 19-7 victory over Apopka Wekiva to win the Class 8A-1 Regional Championship Game.

Mandarin was trailing 7-6 and took the lead for good when Alabama commit Carson Beck, a 6-4 225 lb. junior quarterback tossed a 54 yard touchdown pass to Kris Mitchell which gave Mandarin a 12-7 with 1:09 left in the third quarter.
With the win, the Mustangs have a home game versus Sarasota Riverview next week and the winner will play in the Class 8A Championship Game.
