SEABREEZE'S DEFENSE STIFFENS IN SECOND HALF DURING VICTORY OVER WINTER SPRINGS

DAYTONA BEACH --The Seabreeze Sandcrabs defense caused four turnovers and stiffened in the second half during their clash with the Winter Springs Bears which helped them claim a 24-20 victory.
Winter Springs junior running back Ayron Rodriquez rushed for 226 yards on 39 carries including three first half scores. Rodriquez did the bulk of his damage in the first two quarters as he had 164 yards and all three of his scores by halftime. After some half time adjustments, Seabreeze limited Rodriquez to just 62 yards on 19 carries and kept him out of the end zone in the second half.
The Sandcrabs also intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles to slow down the Bears offense.
Winter Springs last offensive possession was ended by themselves when quarterback Luke Morgan loss track of downs and spiked the ball on fourth and 10 at the Seabreeze 30 yard line with 10 seconds remaining.
Offensively, Seabreeze was led by quarterback Thomas Davidson who tossed an 11 yard touchdown pass to Trevon Phillips and had a passed that was tipped, but reeled in by Matthew Bosset who dashed 51 yards for a score. Running back Otis Walker added a 6 yard touchdown run from the "Wildcrab" formation which gave the Sandcrabs their first lead of the game at 24-20 with 5:39 left in the third quarter.
The come from behind victory gave Seabreeze back-to-back wins for the first time since 2017. The Sandcrabs are now (3-2) and have a bye week before they host Halifax Academy (1-2) on October 4th.
The loss drops Winter Springs to (1-3) and they visit winless Lyman (0-3) for their District 7A-4 opener next week.
