ST. PETERSBURG -- Victory Christian, the number one ranked team in Florida's Class 2A, committed two first quarter turnovers and also had a touchdown nullified before they rallied to defeat Admiral Farragut 48-14.

After quarterback Jeremiah Byrd threw an interception on Victory Christian's first offensive possession, Admiral Farragut quickly capitalized. Quarterback Tonio Shavers Jr threw a 4 yard touchdown pass to Kamel Ajlouni which gave the Blue Jackets an early 7-0 lead with 9:05 left in the opening quarter.

Victory Christian responded a minute and 22 seconds later when Cornelius Shaw scored on a 62 yard touchdown run which tied the score at 7 with 7:43 remaining in the first quarter.

Shaw gave the Storm their first lead of the game when he added a 13 yard touchdown with 8:11 left in the second quarter and also added a 10 yard rushing score which gave Victory Christian a 21-7 lead at halftime.

During the second half, senior running back Kiaun Lockett made contributions for the Storm's running game. He scored on runs which covered 14 and 6 yards which increased Victory Christian's lead to 35-7 with 4:55 left in the third quarter.

Admiral Farragut running back Raymond Walker scored from 3 yards out which made the score 35-14 with 2:40 remaining in the third. Victory Christian responded two minutes later when quarterback Byrd scored on a 7 yard run to give them a 42-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The game's final score occurred when Storm defensive back Caleb Poe returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game.

With the win, Victory Christian remains undefeated at (5-0) and will host undefeated Berkeley Prep (4-0) next week, the number three ranked team in Class 3A.

The loss drops Admiral Farragut to (2-3) and they have a bye week before they travel to play (1-3) Hudson on October 11th.
