Jacksonville Trinity Christian wins third straight Class 3A Championship

Jacksonville Trinity Christian used a suffocating defense to keep Delray Beach American Heritage out of the end zone en route to a 30-3 victory and their third straight Class 3A State Championship.

Senior QB Billy Cobb led the offense, throwing for 264 yards and two tds, including a 90 yarder to DJ Matthews. Cobb also had 36 yards rushing and Matthews finished with 3 catches for 124 yards. Junior Rasheed Martin had 35 yards rushing and senior RB Jalin Buie rushed for 40 yards including a 25 yard td for the games final points.
Defensively, the Conquerors were led by senior DE Anthony Mitchell (10 tackles 2tfl), sophomore LB Eric Gillard (8 tackles), sophomore DB Chamarri Conner (6 tackles 1 int ret td), and junior LB T.J. Robinson (5 tackles).
For Delray Beach American Heritage, it was their second consecutive loss to Trinity Christian in the Class 3A Title Game. This was the Stallions seventh appearance in a state championship game, they've won three titles with the last one coming in 2011 Class 3A State Championship game.
Junior Alec Sinkfield led the offensive effort for American Heritage with 134 all-purpose yards. Senior DJ Davis also added 98 all-purpose yards. Cameron Smith completed 10 of 28 passes for 101 yards, but the 6'3" sophomore was sacked twice and tossed two interceptions.
Senior LBs Logan Wakefield and Lawrence Graham led the Stallions defensive charge with Logan making nine tackles and Graham making seven tackles. Senior DT Greg Begnoche and junior DT Lamonte McDougle chipped in six tackles each.
