The Florida Gridiron has been fertile, producing the most current football players in the NFL than any other state as well as historic stalwarts of the game, who have come to embody greatness.
The FHSAA approved a recommendation during their September Board of Governors meeting which allows high schools in the State of Florida to participate in a State Champions Bowl Series (SCBS).
A selection committee will choose eligible high schools to play in the SCBS based upon national ranking polls and other factors. The high school team must be Member of a state association that is a member of the National Federation of High Schools.
This should prove an exciting time for high school football on a national scale. For years there was not a clear cut measure to crown the best team in the country. Instead, teams from Florida's high school football lore like Miami Booker T. Washington, St. Thomas Aquinas, Miami Northwestern, and Lakeland were relegated and distinguished as Mythical National Champions.
Mark your calendars for December 27. A new era has been born in 2014. An era which minimizes subjectivity and places through a bowl series the best two prep football teams in the country. Head to Head.... 48 minutes of game play will decide who is the king on the gridiron and which state reigns supreme.
