WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Number 21 for the NFL's Washington Football Team will no longer be worn as the team has retired the jersey of the Late Great Sean Taylor during their Sunday game vs. This honor is befitting for a potential Hall of Fame talent cut down in his prime.
The pain still feels fresh... losing a LEGEND to a senseless tragedy. The pain can't be undone; the full potential never to be realized. But when one now looks up into the stadium at Field, they will see the number of a player to be revered. One who gave his heart and body to the game. One who played with the passion of a giant, the ferocity of a warrior, the nimbleness of a ballerina, an overstacked array of skilled versatile talents that binded Sean Taylor to this great gospel we call the game of football.
Since his prep days at Gulliver Prep, Sean excelled and was next level. Many know Sean as a gifted safety with uncanny speed coverage from sideline to sideline, a ferocious hitter, a ball hawk with running back skills. Many in Florida before Sean shined during his days at The U, knew how Sean set Florida's state record for rushing TDs in a season with 44 during his senior season in . The future 1st round NFL draft pick, put his Raiders on his back and took Gulliver Prep to the promised land, capping a stellar high school career with the State Championship trophy.
