(CARTER PARK, FORT LAUDERDALE) -- Miami vs. Broward teams came to battle in Cam Harris' inaugural 7v7 Private Match by Miami Millionaire's Club at Carter Park on a sunny day in Fort Lauderdale.
Some of the state's premier talent came out to battle in the 7v7 as teams get ready to wrap up the 7on7 tournament circuit and focus on the upcoming 2022 season, with the state of Florida's high school football official practices only a couple weeks away starting on the 1st of the August.
The former Carol City State Champion and University of Miami standout has always been a class act, and this event was a testament to giving back. The Championship team was initially to be awarded $2000, but the tourney prize rose to $5,000 to be given to the winning program.
CHAMINADE-MADONNA TAKES HOME THE CROWN
Chaminade-Madonna won the 3A Class State Championship... not only that, at the end of the 2021 regular season they were ranked #1 in RPI amongst all teams in the state, whether winless or with a loss like the Lions suffered (26-24 loss to Plantation American Heritage). And then on to the playoffs, they dominated, only allowing 3 points, and blanking Berkeley Prep 21-0 in the 3A State Championship. AND THEN to solidify their claim as Florida's best team, they went and beat Gilbert Highlands (AZ) 35-24 after they claimed Florida's 3A Title in Tallahassee. Enter 2022, and the expectations are even higher for the Lions.
2023 WR Edwin Joseph
2024 WR Cedrick Bailey
2024 WR Jeremiah Smith
NEW ADDITION: Miami Central transfer 2024 WR Joshisha Trader
We had the opportunity to witness this event with huge numbers of highly regarded players from the Miami Dade and Broward Area. Our notes on a few players that shined or were noteworthy during the event:
MIAMI CENTRAL
With the addition of 2024 WR Lawayne McCoy, an electric ATH who transferred from Avant Garde Academy, expect Central to be just as explosive, even with the departure of top-flight 2024 WR JoJo Trader to Chaminade-Madonna.
2023 QB Keyone Jenkins
Keyone Jenkins, the Lefty Laser is just that, Accurate, and now a true veteran. Given the reins of Carol City as a true freshman, Lyghtzout lived up to the billing that many knew of the player that he would become. Now with 2 state championships as the leader of the Rocket's explosive offense, Keyone looks to compete for the Miami-Dade passing records recently broken and set by Miami Booker T. Washington's QB Scooter Morrison.
2023 WR Lamar Seymore
With the agileness, confidence, and roar of a lion, Seymore doesn't back down.
2023 WR Corey Washington -- Arguably the best return man in the state, Washington is straight electric, and is liable to take it to the house every time he touches the rock, where via the offense or special teams.
2023 WR Cha Hicks
NEW ADDITION: Miami Central transfer 2024 WR Lawayne McCoy
2025 DB Amiri Wallace
BOOKER T. WASHINGTON
Coach Tim Ice Harris is back at the reins.
2024 QB CLAUDELL SHERMAN led the Booker T. via the air to receivers Xavier .
2023 DB Fabian "Bo" Scott
The long Florida Atlantic CB commit made some plays for the Tornadoes.
FORT LAUDERDALE DILLARD
Star CB and University of Miami commit Antoine Jackson did not play. But other players did, and they showed up for the occasion being the closest school to the event.
