(GAINESVILLE) -- The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) released the initial Football Power Rankings Tuesday afternoon for the 2022 season. The new system to determine playoff qualifications and playoff placements for the 2022 season is determined by the new Football Power Rankings. Power Rankings contain two key calculated factors: Rating and Strength. The FHSAA will release Power Rankings weekly.

CHAMINADE-MADONNA IS FLORIDA'S TOP TEAM

No surprise that Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna came in as the #1 in all of the 485 teams ranked by the new Football Power Rankings. Chaminade-Madonna was on top of the Final 2021 RPI Rankings, from which they continued their run in 2021 to claim the Class 3A State Champions. What have they done since they... Do what they do. WIN GAMES... AND WIN GAMES. Head Coach Dameon Jones and his Lions are 5-0 with Big wins on a tough schedule as evidenced by their strength (9.560). They've beaten some strong teams: St. Johns (DC) in the opener 35-28, Fort Lauderdale Dillard 49-28, Miami Northwestern 42-14, American Heritage, 42-34, and blanked Miami Gulliver Prep 28-0 in 2 quarters of action before the game being called due to thunderstorms and bad weather at Tropical Park. The Lions have been dominant this season.
