BALTIMORE -- Miami Central legend and 4x NFL All-Pro RB Dalvin Cook has signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Cook and the New York Jets mutually parted ways Tuesday, after the Jets had been eliminated from playoff contention in a season where he played a minimal role as a backup behind Breece Hall, rushing for just over 200 yards.
Cook, in his 7th year in the league, is still in his prime. Before his signing with the Jets, he shined as a 4x Pro Bowl back with the Minnesota Vikings, eclipsing over 1,000 yards rushing in his last 4 years seasons donning the purple.
Although definitely an disappointing off year for Cook, this 2023 season allowed him proper full time to heal from a previous shoulder injury years ago in a league where running backs in particular have become undervalued due to the constant wear on their bodies in a physically grueling 17-game league regular season.
Cook should add great depth and a spark to a Ravens backfield heading into the playoffs depleted with JK Dobbins going doing early in the year, and recently Keaton Mitchell with a knee injury. True Dual threat Quarterback Lamar Jackson leads the team rushing with 821 yards with Gus Edwards as the feature back with 762 yards. The Ravens also have Melvin Gordon in the backfield.
Baltimore, with South Florida star Lamar Jackson at the wheel on a MVP pace, locked down the #1 Seed in the upcoming AFC Playoffs after a big brutal 56-19 brutal beatdown of the Miami Dolphins, in which fellow South Floridian Lamar Jackson had a PERFECT QB rating of 158.3
Cook's younger brother James has been excelling for fellow AFC Buffalo Bills and is currently ranked 3rd in the National Football League with 1,086 yards rushing. James Cook has also proven to be a dangerous receiver in and out of the backfield amassing over 40 catches for 429 yards and 4 Touchdowns.
Many Floridians have been rooting for the the Baltimore Ravens as they have a roster highlighted by Florida Boys and players who have Florida Connections:
Broward County
Lamar Jackson, Boynton Beach
Zay Flowers
Snoop Huntley, Hallandale
Nelson Agholor, Tampa
Gus "The Bus" Edwards (Played for The U)
