What a College Career for Michael Penix, Jr.

[TAMPA] -- Michael Penix Jr. left Monday night's championship game hurting, emotionally with a towel over his face, and from time to time soothing his right rib cage. It was a tough loss... but Penix' career on the collegiate gridiron is one of legend, and his accomplishments amongst his time donning several collegiate jerseys showed that he is one of the elite quarterbacks to ever represent the state of Florida.

Penix, Jr.'s 2023 collegiate campaign leading the Washington Huskies and nationally with 4,903 yards was the 2nd Best EVER in FBS History since 1956 from a quarterback from the state of Florida, only second to former Coconut Creek North Broward gunslinger Brandon Doughty. Doughty is the only quarterback from the state of Florida to eclipse 5,000 yards in a single college football season.

As An Indiana Hoosier

Penix, Jr. did memorable things at Indiana. Do you remember watching Live when Indiana beat Penn State with Penix stretching out to get the game winning 2point conversion in OT??? What a win... and what a moment, especially from us proud Floridians seeing one of our own shine in a national stage.

When Penix, Jr. took his talents to the West Coast at Washington, he catapulted to the Moon... like Warren Moon lore. In his first year as the Washington signal caller, he passed for 4,641 yards, more yards than he did collectively through his career at Indiana. He broke Washington's single season passing yards record, previously held for 20 years by Cody Pickett since 2002.

Then he came back to break his own single season passing yards record this year in a 14-1 season. As a result, Michael Penix, Jr. has the top two best single season passing yards in Huskies' history.

Breaks Records At Washington

In Washington Huskies rich football history, Penix, Jr. has the record for most passing yards in a game (516 yards) and has thrown for 4 of the best 5 passing yards in a single game.

His game vs. Texas in the 2023 College Football Playoff Semifinals was sensational, completing 29 of 38 passes and throwing for 430 yards in the Sugar Bowl. This game ranks eight all-time in passing yards in a game.
